Jamshedpur, Feb 18: A flying squad of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) carried out raids in Sitaramdera and Agrico on Friday and collected fine totaling Rs 53,900 from offenders of various municipal laws.
The officials collected Rs 11,900 from seven shop owners for selling banned plastic bags, gutkha and pan masala. One of the shop owners was a wholesaler of plastic bags, sources said.
Continuing the crackdown in Bistupur, the JNAC officials collected Rs 42,000 in fine from 10 shop owners at Bistupur market. The team was led by the Tax Daroga Manoj Kumar Lal Das, Prakash Bhagat, Vinod Tiwary and Dilip Barik. Police officials were present during the raids.
Jharkhand government has banned single use plastic bags and tobacco products all over the state. JNAC has been continuously running awareness cum prosecution campaigns in the city to stop violation of government’s prohibitory orders.
