Seraikela, July 20: The All Jharkhand Primary Teachers’ Organization has announced plans for a hunger strike at the state headquarters on August 5, escalating their protest for several pending demands. The decision was made during a meeting at the state headquarters, where teachers pledged their full support for the upcoming fast unto death.
The key demands of the teachers include implementation of the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme for all teachers, introduction of a health insurance scheme for all teachers and employees, amendments to the inter-district transfer policy to provide opportunities for teachers from other districts and reduction of non-academic workload that is impacting educational activities.
The meeting, held on Saturday, saw a large turnout of teachers who unanimously agreed on the legitimacy of their demands and resolved to participate wholeheartedly in the movement.
The prominent attendees includedDeepak Dutta, State Vice President, Manik Prasad Singh, District President, Sudama Majhi, General Secretary, Chandra Mohan Chaudhary, Ashwini Mishra, Devendra Nath Sao and Buddheshwar Sahu.
The teachers’ union emphasized that their struggle aims to improve the working conditions and career prospects of educators across Jharkhand. They view this hunger strike as a necessary step to draw attention to their long-standing grievances and push for concrete action from the state government.
