Heavy rain alert for Jharkhand on June 26

Jamshedpur, June 24: The monsoon is currently passing through Chaibasa, Pakur, and Sahibganj in Jharkhand. A heavy rain alert has been issued for the north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the state on June 26. The Meteorological Department has announced a yellow alert for these regions, with an orange alert for rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in other areas.

Abhishek Anand, head of the Ranchi-based Meteorological Center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Monday, June 24, that thunderstorms with strong winds were expected in some parts of Jharkhand on June 26. Rain accompanied by thunder is also anticipated, with wind speeds projected to reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

Heavy rains have been forecasted for Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahibganj, as well as Dhanbad and Giridih districts on Wednesday. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and Simdega districts.

Further, thunderstorms and rain with strong winds were likely in some areas of Jharkhand on June 27 and 28. The meteorologist indicated that there would be no significant change in the maximum temperature in Jharkhand over the next five days. On June 25, winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, accompanied by thunder, were expected in some areas, with possible thunderstorms in others.

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rains occurred in some parts of Jharkhand, accompanied by thunder. Kumardungi in West Singhbhum recorded the highest rainfall at 45.2 mm. Godda registered the highest temperature at 40.3 degrees Celsius, while Ranchi recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 24.8 degrees Celsius. The weather in Ranchi on June 25 was expected to be pleasant with a cloudy sky and light to moderate rainfall occurring twice or more times during the day. The maximum temperature may reach 33 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius.

From June 1 to June 24, 2024, Jharkhand had received 65% less rainfall than normal, with only 46.4 mm of rainfall compared to the usual 132.2 mm. This deficit had raised concerns among farmers.
