Ranchi: Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the Barki Champi-Tori rail line project online in the state capital here on Thursday. Chief Minister Raghubar Das flagged off the Ranchi-Tori train on the said route.
Announcing plans to introduce hyperloop transportation system in the state sometime soon, the CM said the state government is well prepared to adopt latest technologies in various areas including transportation.
He said the government was serious on starting hyperloop transportation facilities provided implementing such a plan was found possible for a state like Jharkhand. “If plans work in the desired manner, it will be possible for a person to reach Jamshedpur in just 8-9 minutes from Ranchi in the coming days. At present, the government is considering the pros and cons of its utility in developing a Ranchi-Jamshedpur-Dhanbad triangle. The Railway Ministry will be contacted for it once the feasibility report is made.
The CM further said that a joint venture has been started to complete the pending projects of Railways. The construction of 48 ROBs are in progress and the state government is spending its own funds for the construction of 8 ROBs. In the remaining ROBs, there will be a funds sharing of 50-50, he said.
Addressing people after flagging off the Ranchi-Tori train, the CM said that it is a part of the government’s connectivity drive. “Not only rail connectivity but roadways and airways connectivity too is being increased so that development may take place,” he said.
Praising the able leadership of the CM, Prabhu said that under his leadership, the railway projects have sped up apart from all round development in Jharkhand. “The Rs. 497 crore rail budget for Jharkhand in 2009 has been increased to Rs. 2583 crore in the current budget.
Work is under progress on projects worth Rs. 29828 crore in the state. After its completion, people will be greatly benefitted and migration will stop,” he said it in his online inaugural speech.
Returning praise to the Railway Minister, Das said, “The Rail Minister is a development-oriented person and his works are visible in Jharkhand along with the rest of India. Rail services are being started in Hazaribagh and Santhal Pargana as well as in Parasnath.”
Union Welfare Minister of State Sudarshan Bhagat said the new railway line is a boon for the people. It will save valuable time and energy. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Das for the project.
MP Ram Tahal Choudhary thanked the Railway Minister for his support in developing a better rail network in Jharkhand. He suggested developing a zonal railway office in Ranchi and increasing the stoppage of small distance trains.
South East Railway GM SN Agrawal said the electrification work on Barki Champi-Tori rail line is in progress and it is expected to be completed by 2019.
MP Mahesh Poddar, MLAs Sukhdev Bhagat and Prakash Ram and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
