NML: Laxmi Patra and Durga Devi bag ‘Best performer Award’ on Women’s Day

Jamshedpur, March 9: The two-day programme to observe International Women�s Day was celebrated at CSIR-NML auditorium organized by CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory during March 7 and 8. More than 250 S&T officials from NML, Tata Steel, and women members attended the programme.

The theme for the year 2017 was �Be Bold For Change�. CSIR-NML organized a day long Health Check up for all its women employees, spouses of male employees, project staff and contractual staff. About 84 women mandatorily attended the gynecological checkup, which they normally would have delayed.

The health check-up was a very pragmatic and bold step taken by the management. In this endeavor the entire medical staff of CSIR-NML, including Dr. R.K. Ram and Dr. A.K. Arya left no stone unturned to make the program a success.

Along with Pradeep and Abhishek from Intas Pharma, who did the hemoglobin test and Hemant and Sudip from Glenmark Pharma, who did the blood sugar test. Drs. Jaya Moitra and Manisha Pandey did the gynecological tests. Dr. Moitra renders her relentless services to remote undernourished children, adolescent delinquent boys and mentally challenged people.

While welcoming the gathering CSIR-NML Director, Dr. I. Chattoraj, said �Women is like a tea bag, you never know how strong it is until it is in the hot water.� He also said, when you have to do something tell a women, and when you have to say something tell a men.

The Guest of Honor for the occasion was Mrs Debarati Chattoraj, CSIR-NML Jamshedpur. Dr. S. Nayar, Principal Scientist, CSIR-NML in her welcome address stressed on the fact that women don�t need to be told they are beautiful, they just need to be accepted for what they are. On the occasion, several events were held. Dr. Visakha Verma, gynecologist from Tata Main Hospital talked about women�s health and disease prevention/precautions and about pap smear & mammography.

The programme started with dance on women empowerment presented by Mrs. Abhilasha Singh and Mrs. Saswati Chakladar. The Employee of NML presented a theme on Phenomenal Indian women with audio visuals and skit.

Director, Dr. Chattoraj and Mrs Debarati Chattoraj gave away the �Best Performer Award 2017� to Mrs. Laxmi Patra and Mrs. Durga Devi of NML Canteen. The award comprises of Rs. 2500/- each.
