Jamshedpur: A high-level committee dispatched by the Jharkhand High Court to investigate illegal constructions within the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) jurisdiction commenced its probe on Saturday. SDO Parul Singh and Jamshedpur NAC deputy municipal commissioner Krishna Kumar extended full cooperation to the committee members during the investigation.
The committee scrutinized various establishments including Hotel Center Point and Hotel Sonnet in Bistupur, uncovering several irregularities. Led by senior lawyer RN Sahay, along with advocates Sudarshan Shrivastava and Pandey Neeraj Rai, the team meticulously assessed the situation. They scrutinized building maps, construction compliance, and parking arrangements, finding glaring deficiencies in these aspects.

It was observed that none of the buildings provided adequate parking spaces, leading to congestion on the roads. Furthermore, commercial activities were noted in basements and banquet halls without proper authorization.
The legal team pledged to submit a comprehensive report to the High Court, highlighting the findings of their investigation.
Meanwhile, SDO Parul Singh assured full cooperation with the investigation team, affirming adherence to the directives of the Jharkhand High Court. He emphasized the provision of all necessary documents and denied any shortcomings in their cooperation.
The investigation stems from a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Jamshedpur resident Rakesh Jha, alleging illegal constructions and the absence of parking facilities, purportedly facilitated by the connivance of Jamshedpur NAC, the administration, and Tata Steel Land Department. The Jharkhand High Court, taking cognizance of the matter, initiated an independent investigation, with ongoing hearings addressing the issue.
