Jharkhand: Hemant’s cabinet nod for Rs 2500 monthly assistance to women

Ranchi, October 14: The ruling government has given a competition to the BJP announced Gogo Didi Yojana by enhancing the monthly amount to women beneficiaries from Rs 1000 to Rs 2500.

The Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand cabinet on Monday gave its approval to increase the financial assistance given to women to Rs 30,000 per annum from Rs 12,000 at present.

The state government provides Rs 1,000 per month to women under the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana (JMMSY). While the BJP has announced of providing Rs 2100 per month to women beneficiaries under Gogo Didi Yojana.

“The cabinet has approved a proposal to enhance the financial assistance to the beneficiaries of Maiyan Samman Yojna from Rs 1,000 per month to Rs 2,500 per month. This will be provided from December 2024 to 50 lakh beneficiaries of the scheme. The scheme will cause an additional Rs 9,000 crore burden,” Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel.

The BJP has promised women of the state financial assistance of Rs 25,000 per year if it is voted to power.

Other major decision which received nod of the cabinet include, fund approval for installation of scientific exhibition in science centers located in eight districts of the state.

Approval to provide Employee Provident Fund facility to Para Teachers, Resource Persons and other teachers which would benefit nearly 60,000 teachers.

A committee will be formed under the leadership of Tribal Welfare Minister for the welfare of tribal people of Jharkhand working in the tea gardens of Assam. About 15 lakh tribals of Jharkhand are working in Assam.
