Ranchi, July 7: Jharkhand Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore has issued a strong message to government officials, stating that delays and negligence in public service would no longer be tolerated. Speaking to the media after a Janata Darbar held at Congress Bhawan on Monday, the Minister emphasized the need for timely and transparent handling of public grievances.

Kishore pointed out that several welfare schemes, including the old age pension, were being impacted due to the central government’s lack of financial cooperation. “The central government has withheld funds for many key schemes. There is negative cooperation, and they are not providing their share of contributions. This has led to disruptions in delivering benefits to the people,” he said.

He criticized the BJP for spreading misinformation among the public, blaming the state government for lapses that stemmed from central funding issues.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to accountability, the Finance Minister stressed that public offices must stop unnecessary red tape and respond efficiently. “Officials must change their old work culture. If a task cannot be completed, they must communicate clearly to the people rather than make them run from office to office,” Kishore said. “We are here for the people, and their work must be done promptly. Procrastination will no longer be accepted.”

State Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh echoed the sentiment, stating that initiatives like Janata Darbar sent a positive message to the public and demonstrated the government’s seriousness in resolving grassroots issues.

During the session, a total of 49 public cases were presented, covering concerns related to electricity, road construction, land disputes, pond renovation, and the Abua Awas Yojna. The Finance Minister personally interacted with department officials on several matters, instructing them to take swift action.

In one notable case, a complaint related to land acquisition by NHAI was raised. When the Ranchi District Land Acquisition Officer claimed the matter was outside his jurisdiction, the Finance Minister escalated the issue directly to the Land Revenue Secretary, who took immediate cognizance and assured appropriate action.

The Janata Darbar reflected the government’s commitment to responsive governance and timely redressal of public concerns. (w/gsd)
