Officials Question Resident, Examine Digital Devices as Part of Ongoing Investigation
Jamshedpur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday carried out a raid at a residence in Saraswati Nagar, Golmuri, as part of an investigation into an alleged cyber fraud case. The operation created a buzz in the locality as a team of CBI officials reached the premises and conducted a detailed search for several hours.
According to sources, the investigating officers questioned the occupant of the house and examined documents, mobile phones, computers and other electronic devices that could be relevant to the probe. The agency is believed to be investigating suspected links with a larger cyber fraud network operating across multiple states.
Search Focused on Digital Evidence
Officials reportedly scrutinised digital records and other materials during the search to trace financial transactions and online communication linked to the alleged fraud. While the questioning continued for several hours, no official information was released regarding any seizure or arrest from the premises.
Part of Wider Crackdown on Cyber Crime
Sources indicated that the action in Jamshedpur forms part of a broader investigation into organised cyber fraud. The CBI has been intensifying its crackdown on cybercrime syndicates involved in online financial fraud, digital arrest scams and other internet-based offences across the country.
No Official Statement Yet
The CBI has not issued an official statement disclosing the identity of the person questioned, the exact nature of the allegations or the outcome of the search. Officials maintained that the investigation is at a preliminary stage and further details would emerge after examination of the evidence collected during the raid.
Cyber Fraud Under Increasing Scrutiny
Cybercrime cases have witnessed a sharp rise in recent years, prompting central and state agencies to strengthen surveillance and enforcement. Investigating agencies continue to urge citizens to remain cautious while sharing personal or financial information online and to promptly report suspicious transactions through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
