Ranchi, September 6: The physical tests for the remaining part of the Jharkhand Excise Constable recruitment drive will resume on September 10 with revised criteria.
The drive, which began on August 22, was halted after 12 candidates died while taking part in the recruitment drive in different parts of the state. Due to these deaths, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had directed to suspend the drive from September 3 to September 5.
Additional Director General (headquarters) Jharkhand police, R K Mallick told reporters that the physical test for around 1.14 lakh candidates will now be held from September 10.
He said that in response to health concerns, equipment for monitoring oxygen levels and blood pressure, as well as provisions for ORS and fruits will be available at each centre where the tests will be held.
Mallick said, “The fresh exam for the remaining 1.14 lakh candidates will be held from September 10 to 13. It will be held at six centres in five districts, except Palamu, where five candidates died. Tests for around 42,000 candidates from Palamu will be held at other places on September 19 and 20.”
“To manage the process more effectively, only 3,000 candidates will be tested per day, and the exercise will end by 8 am. New admit cards for the revised tests will be uploaded on the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) website in the next two days,” he said.
Mallick said so far 1.87 lakh candidates have appeared in the running test, of which 1.17 lakh have passed.
Regarding the post-mortem reports of the deceased candidates, Mallick said that they have not been received yet. He said that according to the initial medical assessment, most of the deaths were due to heart attacks.
Significantly, chief minister Hemant Soren had in a public function at Ranchi had claimed that the Covid vaccine given by Centre and administered during Covid pandemic was causing side-effects and might have been the reason for the sudden death of young aspirants during the recruitment drive.
