Latehar, February 16: A young elephant has died in BC-10 of Garu Western Forest Area under Southern Forest Division of Palamu Tiger Reserve.
The incident is reported to have happened on Saturday night. After getting information about the incident, the forest department team has started the process of post-mortem of the elephant.
Regarding the incident, Deputy Director Kumar Ashish said that the forest department is investigating the entire matter.
The forest department received information about the death of an elephant in Palamu Tiger Reserve. After receiving the information, the forest department team reached the spot to confirm the matter and found the dead body of a young elephant lying there. Later, senior officials were also informed about this.
However, how the elephant died has not been confirmed yet. The elephant’s teeth are also completely safe. Therefore, it is being speculated that the young elephant died in a conflict between elephants.
It is said that blood stains have also been found at the incident site. That is why the possibility has become strong that the young elephant must have died due to the conflict between elephants.
However, there may be some other reasons for the death, which will be revealed only after the post-mortem report comes.
“The elephant died on Saturday night. The post-mortem team has been sent to the spot. Blood stains have also been found at the incident site. The elephant is young and teeth are also present. This could be a conflict or an incident. Investigation of the case is going on,” said deputy director PTR, Kumar Ashish.
