Jharkhand CM nod for journalists health insurance scheme, cabinet approval next

Rs 5 lakh personal accident insurance claim

Ranchi, Nov 25: Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave nod to the draft document of Jharkhand State Journalist Health Insurance Scheme Rules-2021 prepared by Information and Public Relation department, now it will be presented before the state cabinet for its approval.

This would be the first occasion when a government in Jharkhand has taken step to notify health insurance for journalists.

This scheme will be applicable as group insurance for media representatives, the insured media representative including his/her spouse and two unmarried and dependent children of 21 years of age will get the benefit.

Media representatives working in the state of Jharkhand will be linked to the health insurance scheme. The approval of the cabinet will now be taken on this document proposal proposal.

Under this scheme, media personnel editor-in-chief, news editors, deputy editors, journalists, photo journalists, videographers, journalists and news artists and  painters etc., who are in any daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, tabloid newspaper. , magazine news agency, electronic media, news media (news based web sites/web portals) and as defined by The Working Journalist and other news paper Employees (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1985. This scheme will be effective from the day of issue of notification.

 80 percent of the premium amount will be borne by the state government and 20 percent by the media representatives.

Jharkhand State Journalist Health Insurance Scheme Rules-2021 will be applicable in the form of group insurance for media representatives. From the date of implementation of the insurance, the insured’s media representative along with his/her spouse and two unmarried and dependent children of the age of 21 years will get the benefit. The premium amount fixed in this will be paid by the State Government and the insured media representative in the ratio of 80 and 20 respectively.

 Personal accident insurance of the insured media representative will be Rs.5 lakh. Apart from this, the facility of medical expenses up to a total of five lakh rupees will also be provided to their dependents and all the insured regarding group mediclaim. This insurance plan will be valid for one year and there will also be a provision for renewal every year. At the same time, under this scheme, on the death of the insured in an accident, the following provision has been made for the claim of the insured himself in the event of his nominated member or becoming permanently disabled.

One would have to provide Information in the form determined for the claim, copy of the FIR lodged with police, post mortem or certificate of medical board and death certificate.
