Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has initiated a new era of industrial investment and green steel in Jharkhand following his visits to the World Economic Forum and the United Kingdom. Leading industrial groups, including Tata Steel and Naveen Jindal Group, have submitted letters of intent for over ₹1.27 lakh crore in investments across steel, power, integrated manufacturing, advanced coating, finished steel, automobile components, and cement sectors. Naveen Jindal Group plans ₹70,000 crore while Tata Steel’s proposal stands at ₹11,000 crore.
Other investors showing interest include Odisha Alloy Steel, Rungta Mines, Amalgam Steel and Power, BMW Industries Limited, Jai Suspension Limited, and Ambuja Cement Limited. These commitments aim to establish Jharkhand as a steel hub and a global center for green energy and advanced manufacturing.
Odisha Alloy Steel will invest ₹25,000 crore in Lathahaar to set up blast furnaces and direct reduced iron units. Rungta Group’s ₹10,000 crore project in Saraikela-Kharsawan will focus on steel, power, and cement production, supplemented by Rungta Mines’ ₹300 crore proposal. BMW Industries will invest ₹1,070 crore in Bokaro to manufacture cold-rolled and Galvalume/ZAM-coated coils. In East Singhbhum, Jai Suspension will invest ₹255 crore in automotive leaf and parabolic springs, while Amalgam Steel plans a ₹4,980 crore finished steel project in Kandra.
These initiatives are expected to generate more than 46,555 direct jobs, benefiting local communities and skilled youth. Advanced technologies such as EASyMelt and Hisarna processes will reduce carbon emissions by up to 80 percent, supported by solar and nuclear energy solutions. The state will also produce Galvanized, Galvalume, ZAM, and color-coated steel for durable, rust-resistant applications in automotive, domestic, and construction sectors.
Under CM Soren’s leadership, Jharkhand is positioning itself as a hub for sustainable, high-quality steel and advanced manufacturing, combining economic growth with environmental responsibility.
