Jharkhand Civic Poll Campaign Concludes

48 Bodies Prepare for February 23 Vote

Jamshedpur: Campaigning for Jharkhand’s urban local body elections concluded at 5 PM on Saturday, ending weeks of high-voltage rallies and public outreach. Silence descended across major civic areas, including Jugsalai, Mango, Adityapur, and Chakulia, as candidates shifted from loud rallies to quiet reflection.

Final Countdown to Polling Day

While electoral guidelines allow candidates to conduct door-to-door visits on February 22, the administration has strictly banned loudspeakers and public address systems. Election officials designed this “silence period” to give voters space to make informed choices without outside noise or influence.

Key Election Dates:

  • Polling: February 23 (7 AM to 5 PM)
  • Counting of Votes: February 27 (Starts at 8 AM)

Election Logistics and Security

Voters across 48 urban local bodies will elect Mayors, Chairpersons, and Ward Members. Once the public elects the Ward Representatives, those members will subsequently choose the Deputy Mayors and Vice-Chairpersons.

The administrative machinery has already moved into high gear to ensure a seamless process:

  • Deployment: Polling personnel began departing for their assigned stations today, escorted by tight security.
  • Reinforcements: Additional teams will head to sensitive and remote locations on Sunday to complete preparations.
  • Security: Senior officers confirmed that meticulous logistical planning is in place to guarantee a free, fair, and peaceful voting environment.

As the slogans fade, the focus now shifts entirely to the electorate. Jharkhand’s urban voters stand ready to define the next chapter of grassroots democracy this Monday.
