Jharkhand Assembly polls: 648452 voters to exercise their franchise from Jamshedpur seats

Administration embarks on �Aao Chalen Karen Matdaan�

Jamshedpur:  East Singhbhum district administration has unveiled voter awareness song �Aao Chalen Karen Matdaan�, jingles and voter awareness calendar to increase voting percentage. Moreover, several hoardings have also been put up in the city to inspire voters to exercise their franchise.

Meanwhile, as part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEE DC Ravi Shankar Shukla also flagged off an �Election Express� Van from district headquarters. The van is designed to create awareness among the voters and enroll new voters. The DC of East Singhbhum said the district administration was making all possible preparations to ensure free and fair polls.

Jamshedpur (West) has 348,002 voters of which 182,213 are male and 165,784 are female. Similarly, Jamshedpur (East) has 300,450 voters of which 156,469 are male and 143,981 are female.

As part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEE DC Ravi Shankar Shukla was flagged off an �Election Express� Van from district headquarters. The van is designed to create awareness among the voters and enroll new voters.

The van has a live polling booth, Electronic Voting Machine, Form-6 for enrolment of voters, pledge letters, signature campaign boards, cultural troupe and loud speaker for announcement. It will move across villages in Assembly segments.

The DC has also asked the officials concerned to submit report on places or booths where election malpractices are likely to take place. Such places include areas where efforts may be made by candidates or their supporters to influence voters through various means or affect poll results through bogus voting. He said all basic amenities as directed by the Election Commission of India were available at majority of polling booths.

The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), a leading representative body of industries and traders, has also come out with hoardings to make people aware about the merit of voting in the democracy. The trade body will also flag off an awareness vehicle carrying messages on importance of voting. 

�We have put up hoardings and have flagged off a vehicle moreover our members are also visiting in groups across the district to interact and create awareness on voting,� said an official of SCCI.

He said that in order to create awareness and bring change it is the youth�s input,which will bring the major change in this initiative�. It is necessary for everyone to vote in order to make a change in the State.
