Ranchi: Mahagama Legislator Dipika Pandey Singh, a day after taking oath as the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation, on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with senior officials and instructed them to expedite the schemes directly benefiting farmers.
During the meeting she stated that any delays in implementation of schemes would not be tolerated. Singh also directed that the proposal to waive agricultural loans up to two lakh rupees and increase the honorarium of Farmer Friends be brought to the cabinet soon.
Under the government’s ongoing Agricultural Loan Waiver Scheme, the amount of Standard KCC Loan to be waived will be increased from 50,000 rupees to 2 lakh rupees. The Agriculture Minister directed the department to present this proposal to the cabinet soon for implementation.
The proposal to increase the honorarium of Farmer Friends from 1,000 rupees to 2,000 rupees per month is to be submitted by the Agriculture Minister soon.
Agriculture Minister Deepika Pandey Singh instructed the officials to organise programs at the block level to promote the schemes run by the department and to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the beneficiaries directly.
The Agriculture Minister suggested increasing the number of ponds under the Pond Renovation Scheme and modifying the existing Percolation Tanks (PT) to accelerate the successful implementation of the scheme.
The Minister directed the Director of Agriculture for the revival of Seed Villages, stating that an action plan should be prepared to reactivate previously functioning Seed Villages to utilize their services effectively.
The Agriculture Minister warned the Director of Agriculture to prevent sale of fertilizers at prices higher than the stipulated rates and to take strict measures against the sale of counterfeit fertilizers.
The minister also directed the department to pull up their socks in case of a drought like situation in the state. There has been a deficiency in rainfall in Jharkhand so far. Considering the shortage of rainfall, the department should prepare a robust contingency plan and be ready to implement the best mitigation measures in case of drought.
To further strengthen LAMPS/PACS, the Agriculture Minister directed that new LAMPS/PACS be developed in place of defunct ones.
