New Pipeline to End Water Woes of 400 Families in Jugsalai from May 28

Jamshedpur: Water woes will finally end for the residents of Safiganj Mohalla in Jugsalai. The local administration will begin supplying water to the area through a newly laid 4-inch pipeline starting the evening of May 28.

Sardar Shailendra Singh, President of the Nagrik Sangharsh Samiti, announced that the community successfully secured this separate pipeline for nearly 400 households following a prolonged public struggle. He congratulated Ward Councillors Neha Singh, Bunty Singh, Rakhi Singh, and Munna Singh, alongside social worker Akhilesh Upadhyay and the residents of Chhaprahiya and Safiganj Mohallas, for their active cooperation.

Smart Engineering Ensures Strong Water Pressure

Contractors have nearly completed the installation work, successfully extending the line into Safiganj Mohalla. During construction, residents raised concerns that using four standard 90-degree bends might restrict water pressure and flow. Responding directly to their feedback, contractor Manoj Singh sourced specialized 45-degree bends from Kolkata to replace the fittings, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted water supply.

Unified Community Overcomes Obstacles

Shailendra Singh credited the project’s success to the unity of local residents, particularly the neighborhood women who championed the movement. He praised the volunteers who stood guard at the installation site for 25 consecutive days to overcome various local obstacles.

The new system brings an additional, unexpected benefit: the utility teams will no longer need to enforce the daily 20-minute morning power shutdown—previously required to divert water supply to the affected households—giving local families an extra layer of daily relief.
