JBVNL to resolve power issues in Jamshedpur within 10 days

Jamshedpur, July 25: JBVNL General Manager Ajit Kumar has assured swift resolution of power supply issues in Jamshedpur East and West, promising action within 10 days. He announced the formation of a dedicated team under the Superintending Engineer, which would work on resolving complaints and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

He gave this assurance while addressing a delegation from Janata Dal (United), led by District President Subodh Srivastava, who submitted a memorandum outlining power-related grievances from several localities.

Ajit Kumar assured the delegation of regular updates on progress and emphasized transformer upgrades in affected areas. “Efforts will be made to normalize power supply from the grid, and transformer capacity will be increased where required,” he added.

The JD(U) delegation highlighted frequent power disruptions in Birsa Nagar, Lakshminagar, Burmamines, Bhuinyadih, Manifit, Lalbhatta, Babudih, Kalyan Nagar, Vidyapati Nagar, Baridih Basti, Bagun Nagar, Bagunhatu, Moharda-Murakati, and Rock Garden areas. It pointed out safety hazards, including overgrown bushes near transformers, damaged electric poles, and dangling wires, which had led to accidents, including a recent fatal electrocution in Parsudih.

Srivastava further raised concerns over poor power supply in Jamshedpur West, particularly in Ulidih, Bhatia Basti, Kumhar Para, Gurudwara Basti, Uduyabeda, Baliguma, Ramnagar, Ramjanamnagar, Kusumnagar, Bagebasti, and Bachcha Singh Basti, citing frequent power cuts lasting 30–50 minutes. He also criticized the lack of transformer capacity upgrades despite growing demand from new constructions and connections.

The delegation warned that if issues were not resolved within the promised 10-day period, it would be compelled to launch a public protest.
