Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district civil surgeon Dr Maheshwar Prasad Friday directed Jusco officials to take necessary measures to prevent the outbreak of jaundice in Dhatkidih. He was speaking at a meeting with the company officials at his office in Khasmahal.
He said the deaths caused by the spread of jaundice in the area were a cause of serious concern. He was reportedly informed by Jusco officials that illegal water connections had led to contamination of water supplied to the households. Due to public protest, such illegal connections could not be removed, the officials told the civil surgeon.
It was decided to seek orders from the Deputy Commissioner to remove the illegal water connections with the help of district police, sources said.
The civil surgeon also asked the Jusco officials to run awareness programmes on jaundice in Dhatkidih.
