Jamshedpur, Aug 21: The 25th World Master Athletic Championship 2024, currently underway in Gothenburg, Sweden, has seen a remarkable performance from Indian hammer thrower Sanjeev Kumar Tomar. Competing in the 50+ age group, Tomar impressed with a throw of 51.53 meters, securing 7th place in 37 athletes.
Gold medal was won by Mariusz Walczak of Poland, Germany athlete won silver while Bronze was bagged by Belgium athlete.
Tomar’s success follows his gold medal victory at the Asian Master Athletic Championship in the Philippines, where he set a record with a throw of 51.03 meters.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Tomar has received widespread congratulations from sports officials and enthusiasts. Among those extending their best wishes are Vijay Singh, President of the Master Athletic Association of Jharkhand, former international athlete Gurdev Singh, international cyclist and master athlete Avtar Singh, along with other notable figures such as Sabu Joseph, L.M. Mahanta, Pradeep Mukherjee, Anoop Nag, Hardeep Kaur, Anand Mahato, Dr. Vijay Mohan Singh, William Paulson, Mithilesh Kumar, K.P. Singh, Subol Chatterjee, Manik Lal Chatterjee, and Shyam Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the Eastern Sindh Master Athletic Association.
