Jamshedpur, Sep 5: City-based Dr Divya Narain, wife of Vineet Abhishek (Indian Railway Traffic Service, Western Railway, Government of India), daughter-in-law of Binoy Kant Khan (District Judge cum Special Judge – Vigilance, Jharkhand, Retd.), grand-daughter-in-law of late Daya Kant Khan (Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bihar) received her Ph.D from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, on an Australian Government Scholarship.
Her PhD topic was on the environmental impact of China’s Belt and Road Initiative project. The subject has not only global significance but also has implications for India-China geopolitical relations in the times to come. During her PhD, her research papers were published in world’s leading scientific journals like Science and Nature. During her studies, she did research work in countries like China, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom etc. and has also collaborated with global agencies like the United Nations. Prior to this, she completed her Master’s in Biodiversity Conservation & Management from University of Oxford, England.
In future, Divya plans to do further work in the area of sustainable finance which will help banks to make their lending methods more eco-friendly.
“It is a moment of pride not only for Jamshedpur, but for the entire state of Jharkhand and Bihar, that one of its daughters is putting this region on the global map in environmental research,” said a family member.
