Jamshedpur: A 54-year-old woman died, and her husband was injured after their scooter was hit by a truck carrying gas cylinders late Sunday night in Mango.
The incident occurred near Road No. 13 in Jawaharnagar under Mango police station limits, when the speeding truck rammed the scooterists. The victim, identified as Sabiha Khatoon, sustained critical injuries, while her husband, Javed Masood—a librarian at Karim City College—was also hurt in the collision.
Both were rushed to a nearby hospital by local residents. Despite medical efforts, Sabiha Khatoon succumbed to her injuries on Monday morning. According to their son, Shahbaz, she had suffered severe trauma to her hand and waist.
The bereaved family is in deep shock following the sudden loss. Meanwhile, Mango police have seized the truck involved in the accident and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
