Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Women’s University reached a historic landmark as Sasmita Sahu became the first student to receive a PhD from the institution. A scholar in the Department of Home Science, Sasmita’s achievement marks a golden chapter in the university’s academic journey.
Research Focused on Modern Health
Sasmita completed her research on a highly relevant contemporary topic: “Assessment of Impact of Social Media on the Food Intake, Health, and Nutritional Status of Adolescents.” She conducted her doctoral research under the expert guidance of Dr. Rama Subramanian, Head of the Home Science Department and Controller of Examinations. The study provides critical insights into how digital habits are reshaping the physical health and nutrition of the youth.
