Jamshedpur, April 10: Students of Jamshedpur Women’s University delivered an impressive performance at the Jain Premier League Women’s Open Cricket Tournament, held on April 8 and 9 at Arka Jain University. The tournament saw participation from nine teams, with the Jamshedpur Women’s University team emerging as a standout contender by winning all their matches leading up to the final.
In a closely contested final match, the team narrowly missed the championship title, finishing runners-up against host team Arka Jain University by just a few runs. Prerna Kumari, captain of Jamshedpur Women’s University, was awarded the Best Batsman of the tournament for her outstanding performance.
Other key players contributing to the team’s success included Divya Hembram, Roshni Soy, Roshni Soren, Sakshi Rai, Harshita Nishad, Lakshmi Hembram, Puja Pradhan, Sandhya Rani Mahato, Bharti Kumari Bankira, Riya Singh, Ritika Mohapatra, Harshpreet Kaur, Kalpana Hansda, Suman, and Jyoti. The team was led by Sports Coach Tej and Team Manager Prabhat Kumar Mahato.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta congratulated the team on their achievement and encouraged them to pursue excellence in sports. Sports and Cultural Committee Chairman Dr. Sanatan Deep also lauded the students for their dedication and spirited performance.
