Jamshedpur woman attempts suicide at Mango Bridge, rescued

Jamshedpur, June 30: A woman reportedly made an abortive attempt to jump from the Old Mango Bridge in order to end her life here on Thursday. She was rescued by several women passing through the Bridge, sources said.

Sources said the woman was trying to climb the net installed on the sides of the Old Mango Bridge. As she did so, she was noticed by several women walking on the pavement. The women soon caught the victim and stopped her after much persuasions. The victim said she was a resident of Azad Basti and that she wanted to kill herself after a family dispute, sources said.

Tata Steel UISL had installed new nets on the Bridge yesterday itself. The timely installation of nets saved a life, said a passer-by aware of the development.
