Jamshedpur, Sep 21: Sidhgora police arrested two arms suppliers near Akashdeep Plaza, Golmuri, on Wednesday and seized four country-made guns and nine bullets from their possession.

Those arrested were identified as Ajit Behra alias Deepak and Suresh Matia alias Ajay, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), East Singhbhum, Prabhat Kumar.

The SSP said police had got a tip-off about the accused persons coming to Akashdeep Plaza for arms dealing. A police team raided the place and nabbed the accused persons. During frisking, guns and bullets were recovered, said the SSP, adding that those arrested were members an inter-state gang which supplies arms to criminals across the city. The gang brings arms from Munger (Bihar) in Rs 3000 to Rs 4000 and sells it to criminals for double price, he said.

The SSP said the gang had been operating for the last four years. He said police was trying to get the names of people who purchased arms from the gang.
