Commercial LPG Rates Surge by ₹993; Domestic Prices Remain Stable

New Delhi (IANS): State-owned oil marketing companies have significantly increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders effective Friday, May 1, 2026. While businesses face a steep hike, the government has spared domestic households from any immediate price revisions.

LPG Price Revision Details

  • Commercial Hike: The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder rose by ₹993.
  • New Rate: A 19-kg cylinder now costs ₹3,071.5 in Delhi.
  • Domestic Stability: Rates for domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged for approximately 33 crore users.
  • Trend: This marks the third price surge for commercial gas since the onset of the US-Israel and Iran conflict on February 28. Previous hikes included ₹115 in early March and nearly ₹200 on April 1.

Fuel and ATF Update

  • Petrol and Diesel: Prices for key transport fuels remain stagnant despite high global energy costs.
  • Aviation Fuel: Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices for domestic airlines also remain unchanged, as state-owned companies opted to absorb global cost increases to protect the aviation sector.

Revised Export Duties (Effective May 1, 2026)

The Central Government notified new rates for export levies—including Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED)—to ensure domestic product availability during the ongoing West Asia crisis:

  • Diesel Exports: The duty is now set at ₹23 per litre.
  • ATF Exports: The duty has been revised to ₹33 per litre.
  • Petrol Exports: The duty continues to remain at Nil.
