Jamshedpur, August 4: The Jamshedpur Traffic Police have introduced Body Worn Cameras to monitor and manage traffic rule violations more effectively. Officers equipped with these cameras can now capture the actions of individuals who argue or misbehave when stopped or fined for traffic violations. The cameras will continuously record all activities on the road, ensuring that any disputes or misconduct are documented. Traffic DySP Sanjay Kumar stated that 47 cameras have been distributed to officers, who are required to wear them on their shoulders during duty. These cameras have a memory storage of about 4.5 GB and feature powerful microphones to record audio along with video. This initiative aims to deter unnecessary arguments, threats, and allegations of bribery against traffic police.

Traffic DSP Sanjay Kumar also mentioned the ongoing campaigns against high-speed vehicles and drunk driving. The traffic police have been provided with anti-speeding vehicles and two speed guns to capture and fine speeding vehicles. On NH-33, high-speed vehicles are being monitored, and notices are sent to violators. In June alone, notices were sent to 18 high-speed vehicle owners. The campaign against drunk driving is also active, with strict actions taken against minor drivers and their parents. In June, 393 driving licenses were cancelled. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure safer roads and responsible driving in Jamshedpur.
