Jamshedpur: The seven-day APR Nair Junior Cricket Tournament began on Sunday in Mango, with Rajiv Nair Cricket Academy registering an impressive win in the opening match. The tournament is being organised by Aman Welfare Society and was inaugurated by social worker Dr. Afroz Shakeel.
In the first match, Rajiv Nair Cricket Academy defeated Ghatshila by six wickets in a high-scoring encounter. Batting first, Ghatshila posted a strong total of 320 for eight in 35 overs. In reply, Rajiv Nair Cricket Academy chased down the target comfortably, scoring 323 for four in just 32.4 overs.
Brihaspati Mahto starred with the bat, scoring a brilliant 94 runs, while Manan added a valuable 54 to guide the team to victory.
A total of six teams are participating in the tournament, including Young Club, Rajiv Nair Cricket Academy, Ghatshila, Mango XI, Chaibasa Blasters, and Dalma Strikers. The tournament is being conducted free of cost, with the winners set to receive a trophy and cash prize.
