Jamshedpur, August 4: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has called for the cancellation of Jharkhand Government’s Revenue Department Resolution Number 817/Ra, issued on February 22, 2018, to facilitate ownership rights for local residents. In a motion of attention presented on July 31 in the Assembly, Roy highlighted that this resolution remains a major barrier to granting ownership rights to Jamshedpur’s residents.
The government’s response indicated that while the decision to cancel Resolution 817/Ra is not currently under consideration, it has not been ruled out for the future. Roy criticized this stance, asserting that the resolution is a significant obstacle to securing ownership rights for the residents.
The discussion on this issue was cut short when the Assembly Speaker adjourned the House due to disruptions by BJP MLAs. Roy has vowed to continue advocating for ownership rights for slum dwellers and plans to revisit the issue in future sessions.
