Jamshedpur traders to launch agitation against 2 per cent market tax

Jamshedpur, Feb 6: City traders would launch a massive statewide agitation against the government decision to impose two percent market tax on Krishi Bazar Samiti (agricultural market committee). This was announced here on Monday by Manav Kedia, honorary general secretary of Singhbhum Chamber of commerce and Industry.

Kedia said the Chamber today convened a meeting with the members of Vyapar Mandal at Chamber Bhavan, Bistupur. The meeting was held to formulate strategy to oppose the government decision. All traders have unanimously decided to intensify the agitation. A state level meeting would be held in Ranchi on Wednesday to take decision regarding the agitation, said Kedia.

The traders will continue the agitation till their demands are fulfilled. In the Wednesday meeting, the traders may take a decision to stop arrival of foodgrains all over the state.

Vyapar Mandal president Deepak Bhalotia also addressed the traders and appealed to them to lend full support to the common cause of the traders’ community. SCCI vice president Nitesh Dhut and secretary Anil Modi too, addressed the traders and appealed for unity among them.
