Seraikela, May 3: Festivities of Akshay Tritiya were dampened and miseries increased due to torrential rain and storm in the evening that brought life to a standstill in and around Saraikela. The rain and storm that lasted for an hour saw city roads being flooded and thatched roofs of several houses damaged. Water pools that formed at the city square made life difficult for commuters. Traffic congestions were noticed due to water logging at Palace Chowk and Mallick Talab roads at Indratandi. More than two dozen thatched roofs of houses in Chhotadavna Panchayat were damaged by the storm and rain.
In Bastansahi village of Chhotadavna Panchayat area, tiled houses of Lakhan Murmu, Dhanu Suren, Indhan Hansda, Vaisakhi Soren, Palu Hansda, Bhogna Suren, Nimai Suren and Jhopa Murmu were damaged by the rain and storm on Tuesday evening.
