Chaibasa/Jamshedpur — Security forces have launched an aggressive campaign to eliminate Maoist presence from the Saranda Forest, a long-standing insurgent stronghold. Late Saturday evening, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Special DG Deepak Kumar arrived at the remote Baliba camp to review anti-Maoist operations and finalize a high-stakes strategy.
During the meeting, Kumar issued a clear directive: security forces must liberate the Saranda region from Maoist influence within one month. This deadline signals a major escalation in tactical operations across the dense forested belt.
Ultimatum for Top Maoist Leadership
The Special DG issued a stern ultimatum to top Maoist leader Misir Besra and his associates: surrender and join the mainstream or face decisive military action. Kumar gave final approval for the next phase of the offensive, emphasizing that forces will maintain unrelenting pressure until they achieve their objective.
Prioritizing Troop Welfare
During his two-hour visit, Kumar interacted with personnel stationed in the difficult terrain. After discovering that several jawans had contracted malaria, he immediately ordered a helicopter evacuation to Ranchi to ensure they received advanced medical care. Officials noted that this quick response significantly boosted the morale of troops working in the inhospitable conditions of the forest.
Dismantling Hideouts and Logistics
Security officials have implemented a specialized plan to dismantle Maoist hideouts and disrupt logistical networks throughout Saranda. The strategy involves:
-
Intensified aerial and ground surveillance.
-
Targeted, intelligence-led operations.
-
Tighter coordination between various security units.
The CRPF leadership’s visit has infused ground forces with renewed confidence as they prepare for this final push to reclaim the Saranda region from insurgent control.
