Service to man is service to God – the motto of Rotarians: DG Pratim Banerjee

Jamshedpur, May 3: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur had the Official Club Visit of the District Governor, Rtn Pratim Banerjee at a meeting. The DG along with his spouse, Suchhanda Banerjee, AG Zone-18, Rtn Shweta Chand, President of RCJ, Rtn Madhumita Santra and other Rotarians visited the oldest project of the Club – Mother & Child Healthcare Clinic at Bhilaipahari, which has been providing free health checkups, medicines and nourishing food items to pregnant women and lactating mothers and infants of nearby villages since the last 50 years. A cold water kiosk for the general public donated by Rotary friend, Abhishek Chatterjee was inaugurated near the new entrance Burmamines gate of Tatanagar Railway junction. Chatterjee donated the kiosk as a gesture of gratitude for the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur. Later, DG Pratim Banerjee while addressing the Interactors and Rotaractors of various clubs of Jamshedpur, at the Beldih Club Conference Hall observed, “Rotary believes that service to poor and financially hit people is an integral part of the Club’s activities based on the motto, Service to man is Service to God.”

 The DG also addressed the Chairpersons of various Committees of the Club and took note of the work done throughout the year. He provided inputs for future projects.

In the course of the General Body Meeting, President Rtn Madhumita Santra presented a report on the 174 projects undertaken by the Club thus far in 2022, which covered the seven core areas of Rotary. The important projects included Food For All-providing nourishing food every Saturday to 240 villagers at Jagannathpur, Dimkadih, Imli Tola, Bada Banki and Chhota Banki , COVID vaccine Centre, water kiosks, wash stations, tree plantation, the various services provided under the programme ‘Rotary Vividh Sewa Kendra’ at Palasbani, assistance to differently abled persons, regular health checkup camps under the project, ‘Positive Health,’ 40 smart classes introduced at various schools. These projects have reached thousands of beneficiaries. The completion of Global Grant Project was a cause of elation to members of Rotary. This completed included Mobile Eye Clinic Van with state-of-the-art facilities and satellite connection with the Jamshedpur Eye Hospital, for the benefit of needy people of rural areas in and around Jamshedpur.

The Annual Souvenir for the Rotary Year 2021-‘22 was released by DG Rtn Pratim Banerjee, AG Rtn Shweta Chand, President Rtn Madhumita Santra and Bulletin Editor Rtn Mona Bahadur. The meeting included addresses by DG Rtn Pratim Banerjee, AG Rtn Shweta Chand, President Rtn Madhumita Santra. The vote of thanks was proposed by Rtn Mona Bahadur.
