Jamshedpur to host Master Athletics Championship on Dec 11

Jamshedpur, Nov 29: Master Athletics Association of Jharkhand will be organising one-day state-level Master Athletics Championship 2022-23 on December 11 at JRD Sports Complex, Jamshedpur

To make the event successful a meeting of the governing body was held under the chairmanship of President of Master Athletics Association of Jharkhand and former international athlete Gurdev Singh, at Telco Recreation Club on November 28. Also present were international and national master athletes.

A framework was prepared for the successful organization of the state level master athletic competition. Sanjeev Kumar Tomar, general secretary of the association and international master athlete gave detailed information regarding the preparations for the success of the event. He informed that participants from 12 districts of Jharkhand have given their consent.

Five age group categories for men and four for women are part of the competition. From 100 m race, to long jump and from Shot Put to Javelin throw will be organised both for men and women.  

Total of 78 events (men and women) will be held during the day long championship.

The winning participants will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. Along with this, on the basis of performance, a team of Jharkhand state master athletes will be formed, which will represent the state in National Master Athletics Championship 2023-24 in February, 2023.

The organizing committee is optimistic about the successes of event for which 60 technical officers will be deputed.
