Jamshedpur to host Khalsa Premier League for Sikh youth

Three-Day Cricket Tournament from April 17 at Cooperative College Ground

Jamshedpur, April 12: The Sports Wing of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Sakchi (GPCS) will organise a three-day Tennis Ball ‘Fatafat’ Big Bash cricket tournament, named Khalsa Premier League (KPL), from April 17 to 19. The matches will be held at Cooperative College Ground.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Gurudwara president Nishan Singh, along with Sports Wing members, shared details of the event. He said the initiative aims to provide a platform for Sikh youth and encourage them to participate in sports instead of spending excessive time on mobile phones.

The organising committee announced that the winning team will receive a championship trophy, while the runner-up team will be given a cash prize. The prize amount will be declared later. Technical Director Baljit Sansoa informed that team entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with a minimum of eight and a maximum of 12 teams. So far, four teams have confirmed participation.

Organisers said the league is dedicated to the festival of Baisakhi, which marks the creation of the Khalsa. They added that in future, the tournament will be aligned more closely with the festival celebrations.

It was also announced that only Sikh players are eligible to participate. Non-Sikhs and those who have cut their hair will not be allowed. Interested teams can collect entry forms from the Sakchi Gurudwara office or contact (9934123704) the organisers for details.
