Jamshedpur to experience rise in minimum temperature from Friday

Jamshedpur: Residents across Jharkhand can expect a slight relief from the prevailing cold as the minimum temperature is set to rise from Friday, according to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi Meteorological Centre. The forecast suggests that while there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over the next 48 hours, a gradual rise is expected thereafter.

Several areas, including Jamshedpur, woke up to gloomy weather conditions today, with the sky covered in dense clouds. However, as the day progressed, the sun broke through, bringing much-needed warmth. Despite this, chilly conditions continued in several districts, with temperatures fluctuating across the state.

According to Met statistics, Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius, while Jamshedpur reported 12 degrees Celsius in the early hours. Daltonganj, one of the coldest pockets in the region, recorded 7.5 degrees Celsius, whereas Bokaro Steel City registered a low of 8.2 degrees Celsius.

In what can be described as bone-chilling conditions, Gumla recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 4.9 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Chatra at 5.2 degrees Celsius. Lohardaga, another cold-affected district, recorded 5.6 degrees Celsius, while Simdega saw a minimum temperature of 7.5 degrees Celsius.

Met officials confirmed that the temperature fluctuations recorded today are part of a seasonal transition phase. The cold wave has been gripping parts of the state for the past few weeks, but a rise in night temperatures will bring some respite. The gradual increase is expected to be more noticeable as February begins, signaling the end of severe winter conditions.

While cold conditions will persist in some areas, especially in districts with lower minimum temperatures, the overall trend points toward warming nights. The IMD has advised residents, particularly in interior districts, to continue taking precautions against the cold, as early morning and late-night temperatures may still remain low despite the expected rise.

With the gradual rise in minimum temperatures, Jharkhand is likely to transition towards milder weather in the coming days. While morning chills and fluctuating temperatures will continue for a brief period, the state is gearing up for a shift from winter’s peak towards a more temperate climate. Weather experts will continue monitoring the changes closely, providing further updates as necessary.
