Northern Jharkhand may see dense fog affecting visibility, while the rest of the state enjoys clear skies and stable winter conditions.
Jamshedpur, Jan 3: Jharkhand is set to witness dense fog at isolated places over the northern parts of the state during morning hours on January 3 and 4, while overall dry weather conditions are expected to prevail till January 5, according to the latest weather outlook.
Meteorological analysis indicates that a western disturbance, earlier seen as an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, has now shifted eastwards and is positioned over northwest Uttar Pradesh and its synoptic neighbourhood.
The system extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, accompanied by a trough aloft in the middle and upper tropospheric levels, with its axis located at around 5.8 km above mean sea level, roughly along longitude 75°E to the north of latitude 33°N.
In addition, an upper-air cyclonic circulation persists over northwest Bangladesh and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal at about 1.5 Km above mean sea level.
While these systems are influencing atmospheric conditions over eastern and northern India, they are not expected to trigger rainfall over Jharkhand in the immediate term.
During the past 24-hours, dry weather prevailed across the state, though shallow to moderate fog was realised at isolated locations, particularly during early morning hours, temporarily reducing visibility.
Weather experts caution that foggy conditions may intensify during early mornings, especially in northern Jharkhand, potentially affecting road and rail traffic.
Commuters are advised to exercise caution during early hours.
With no significant weather activity anticipated, Jharkhand is likely to experience clear to partly cloudy skies, cool mornings and comfortable daytime temperatures over the next few days, maintaining a stable winter pattern through January 5.
