Jamshedpur: Team Alaknanda emerged as the champion in the indoor sports competition organized by Aman Welfare Society at APJ Kalam High School, Mango. The event, held exclusively for women, saw Team Alaknanda, led by captain Humaima Naseem, claim the APR Nair Trophy, which was presented by social worker Dr. Afroz Shakeel. Team Mahanadi, captained by Ekta Mandal, finished as the runner-up.
The competition featured carrom, chess, and lagori, with a total of 47 women participating. Dr. Afroz Shakeel highlighted that the event was organized to commemorate Women’s Day, promoting fitness and stress relief among women and girls. The sports event will conclude on March 8, with games scheduled every Saturday and Sunday. A tennis ball cricket tournament will be held next weekend.
Present at the event were Tahir Hussain, Rafat Ara, and Sania, supporting the initiative to encourage women’s participation in sports.
