Jamshedpur: Six arrested in Sakchi theft case, stolen goods recovered

Jamshedpur, Jan 3: Sakchi police arrested six persons in connection with the major theft in the house of businessman Ajay Kumar Modi of Rajendranagar. One of the accused, Shailesh Modi, is the brother of the complainant, police said.

Other accused were identified as Sheikh Israfil, Niranjan Gaur, Mohammad Afroz, Rahamtulla alias Butuk Ansari and Parvez Alam Ansari.

Police have recovered cash worth Rs 7.70 lakh, six mobile phones, washing machine, water purifier, refrigerator, TV, car, motorcycle, scooty, silver coins, utensils, cutter, rods, bamboo ladder and puja items from the possession of the accused persons.

Police said Shailesh Modi had tipped off the thieves about his brother’s foreign tour and prompted them to commit the theft. On 2nd October last, the accused persons carried out their plan and stole away cash and valuables from the house of Ajay Kumar Modi. After theft, the accused persons went to Bagbera and shared the booty. On 3rd, 4th and 5th October, the accused persons again committed theft in Modi’s house and stole away remain ornaments and money, police said.
