Jamshedpur Sikh leader welcomes conviction of Sajjan Kumar

Jamshedpur: Former Congress Member of Parliament Sajjan Kumar has been convicted for his involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. A Delhi court found him guilty of orchestrating the murder of a father-son duo, Jaswant Singh and Tarundeep Singh.
Satnam Singh Gambhir, President of the All India Sikh Students Federation (Eastern India), welcomed the court’s decision and demanded the harshest possible punishment for Kumar. Gambhir, who has been advocating for justice for the victims of the 1984 riots in Jharkhand, emphasized the prolonged denial of justice to numerous families and the systemic failures that allowed such atrocities to occur.
He expressed gratitude to individuals like Sardar Manjit Singh GK, Harvinder S. Phoolka, Harpreet Singh Hora and others who have tirelessly worked to bring the perpetrators to justice. Gambhir also acknowledged the efforts of legal teams and activists who have risked their lives to pursue these cases through higher courts. He paid homage to the innocent Sikhs who lost their lives during the riots, particularly those in areas like Saraswati Vihar.
