Jamshedpur, April 1: Utkal Divas was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Utkal Association premises in the city, marking the foundation day of Odisha.
The programme was attended by Dr. Bikram Keshari Das, Director (Finance) of Uranium Corporation of India Limited, as the chief guest. He spoke about Odisha’s history, language, literature, trade and its present development.
Trustee Manoranjan Das highlighted issues faced by the Odia community, while social worker Sangita Behera spoke on Odia culture and heritage. The welcome address was delivered by President Dr. Sridhar Pradhan, and the secretary’s report was presented by Tarun Kumar Mohanty. Vice President Badal Bhuiyan read out the citations of those honoured, while Sanjay Pal proposed the vote of thanks.

Cultural performances were a major highlight, with Hans Group artists presenting Odissi and Sambalpuri dance. Several personalities, including architect Abanish Prasad Mishra, social worker Avinash Das, musician Dr. Sanatan Deep, mountaineer Astharani Bhuiyan and bodybuilder Kundan Gope, were felicitated.
Artists also performed devotional songs, adding to the festive spirit. The event concluded with active participation and support from members of the organising committee.
