Jamshedpur: Retired Naval Officer Sanjeev Raman Joins BJP

Jamshedpur, June 28: Retired Naval Officer Commander Sanjeev Raman formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a district-level organisational meeting of the party in Saraikela-Kharsawan on Sunday. His induction was carried out in the presence of senior BJP leaders, including State Secretary Shailendra Singh, District President Harekrishna Pradhan, Adityapur Mayor Sanjay Sardar, and former Saraikela MLA Anant Ram Tudu.

Commander Raman brings extensive experience from his distinguished career in the Indian Navy, along with corporate and civic leadership roles. Party leaders welcomed him, expressing confidence that his experience and commitment to public service would strengthen the BJP’s organisational activities in the region.

He is the son of veteran BJP leader A.K. Srivastava, who has been associated with the party and social service for more than 45 years. Before joining the BJP, Commander Raman had also interacted with BJP National President Nitin Nabin ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections.

Cdr Raman’s career is a testament to his commitment to the nation and society. He served the nation with distinction for 21 years. During his service, he participated in three major conflicts: UN Peacekeeping Force in Somalia, Kargil War (Operation Vijay) and Operation Parakaram.

His exceptional service was recognized with the Commendation Medal from the Service Chief on two separate occasions. Post-retirement, he gained extensive corporate experience over eight years in senior positions, before successfully transitioning to an entrepreneurial venture. He is an alumni of IIT Kanpur, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies Mumbai and NIT Surathkal .

Beyond his professional achievements, Cdr Raman is a prominent figure in Jamshedpur’s civic and industrial landscape. He is actively associated with leading organizations in leadership roles with CII, Indo American Chamber of Commerce, and Indian Institute of Materials Management as Chairman and Council Member. He is also a member of Rotary International and serves as the Jt. General Secretary of the Jamshedpur Citizens Forum.
