Jamshedpur rape-murder case: One gets life imprisonment, two other get jail terms


Jamshedpur, June 15: A district court here on Monday sentenced life imprisonment to one of the three convicts in a case related to gang rape and murder of a three-year-old girl, and sentenced 10- and 7-year jail terms to the two others. The three had abducted the girl from Tatanagar railway station and killed her after a gang rape on July 25, 2019.
In a hearing at the Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Subhash Kumar, the three accused Rinku Sao, Kailash Kumar and Monu Mandal were convicted in kidnapping and sexual assault case of a three year old child at Tatanagar railway station. The accused were convicted on June 11 whereas the quantum of sentence was pronounced today.
On July 25, the three convicts had kidnapped the child from Tatanagar station and taken her to Ramadhin area. She was raped and murdered. The headless body was recovered from the bushes after the arrest of the culprits involved in the murder. The police had presented the charge sheet against the accused after 50 days in the record time.
The court today also directed main accused Rinku Sao to pay a fine of Rs 90,000. Monu Mandal and Kailash Kumar were awarded ten and seven years in jail and fined Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Moreover, out of the 30 witnesses listed by police in the case, 20 turned up to depose before the court.
