Jamshedpur: Rajkumar nets 5 goals as HAR Academy beats Dhyan Chand Hockey Academy 9-0

2nd Hockey India Junior Men’s Academy National Championship

Jamshedpur, April 24: R.V Academy of Hockey, Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy, HAR Hockey Academy and SGPC Hockey Academy registered wins in their respective pool matches on the fifth day of the 2nd Hockey India Junior Men’s Academy National Championship 2022, at Naval Tata Hockey Academy ground in Telco on Sunday, April 24.

In the first game of the day, R.V Academy of Hockey edged past Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) 3-2 in Pool A. Captain Prem (2′), Jony (30′) and Anil Kumar (44′) scored for R.V Academy of Hockey, while Seraj Ahmed (29′, 56′) struck a brace for MSSA.

In Pool D, Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy came from a goal down to beat Olympian Vivek Singh Hockey Academy 4-1 in the second match of the day. Olympian Vivek Singh Hockey Academy took the lead in the 14th minute through Ramchandra Yadav before Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy scored through Ujwal Singh (47′), Dilraj Singh (52′), Savraj Singh (54′) and Lalpreet Singh (60′) to emerge winners.

In another Pool D match, HAR Hockey Academy beat Dhyan Chand Hockey Academy 9-0. Rajkumar (24′, 31′, 37′, 56′, 59′) scored five goals, while Anil (28′, 35′), Sandeep Singh (22′) and Ujjwal (30′) were the other goal-getters for HAR Hockey Academy.

In Pool E, SGPC Hockey Academy beat HIM Hockey Academy 9-0. Sarabjinder Singh (3′, 22′) scored a brace, while Jassimran Singh (7′), Harpreet Singh (19′), Ranjodh Singh (28′), Kamaljeet Singh (33′), Jagpreet Singh (47′), Roban Singh (51′) and Parmod Singh (53′) contributed a goal each for the winning team.

The Pool E match between Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar-Ludhiana and Gangpur Sports Academy didn’t happen as both teams forfeited the last match of the day.

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel was present at the venue and witnessed matches. He also awarded the winners.  

Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, CEO, Jamshedpur Football Club & Chief Sports Excellence Centres, Tata Steel, Ashish Kumar, CEO, Hockey Ace Foundation & Head (Sports), Tata Steel, and senior officials of the Tata Steel Sports Department and Naval Tata Hockey Academy were also present on the occasion.

Hosts Naval Tata Hockey Academy will be up against Berar Hockey Academy on Monday, April 25.
