Jamshedpur, Sep 6: The much-anticipated Ganeshotsav at the Ganesh Puja ground in Kadma officially commenced on September 6 with a grand inauguration of the pandal by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das. This year marks the 106th edition of the festival organized by Bal Ganpati Vilas, a long-standing tradition within the South Indian community of Jamshedpur.

The festival is set to unfold over 16 days, with the Ganesh Puja beginning on September 7. The Kalash Sthapana, an essential ritual marking the start of the celebrations, will be performed by a team of priests arriving from Parvatipuram, Andhra Pradesh. The priests will conduct daily Abhishek, Sahasranama, Homa, and Kumkum Puja every Friday throughout the festival.

Noteworthy attendees at the Kalash Sthapana will include former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, along with prominent figures such as MLA Saryu Roy, former DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh, and social worker RK Sinha. Other distinguished guests like Amarpreet Singh Kale, Vinod Singh, and NVR Murthy will also grace the occasion.
The inaugural event of the fair will be conducted by MP Bidyut Baran Mahto on September 7, with additional dignitaries such as Health Minister Banna Gupta, former MP Suman Mahto, and MLA Sabita Mahto in attendance. The festival will feature various activities, including a special food service at Bistupur Antyodaya Ashram under Narayan Seva on September 14, and a Mahabhog organized on September 21 within the fairground premises.
The celebration will culminate in a grand immersion procession on September 22, starting from Kadma Rankini Temple and proceeding to Kharkhai River via Gopal Maidan, Bistupur.
The Kadma Ganeshotsav is renowned for its extensive duration and vibrant atmosphere. This year’s fair promises an array of attractions, including three electric swings, four break dance swings, three Tora Tora rides, a Chand Tara swing, a toy train for children, Mickey Mouse, a water bolt, fine arts from Bengal, utensils from Kanpur, artificial jewellery, a razor swing, and a tsunami swing. Following the immersion of Bal Ganpati, the fair will continue at various Durga Puja committees throughout Jamshedpur, ensuring a continued festive spirit across the city.
