Jamshedpur, September 8: A man from the Kowali police station area dialed 100 and informed the police that he intended to commit suicide. The distress call was promptly relayed to the Kowali police, who quickly located the man using his mobile phone’s GPS in a forested area near the Jharkhand-Odisha border.
Upon arrival, the police witnessed the man tying a rope around his neck and attempting to hang himself from a tree. Incidentally, the rope snapped, causing the man to fall to the ground. The police immediately rescued him and escorted him to the police station.
The man’s wife was summoned, and the police counseled the couple extensively. Ultimately, they reconciled, promising to live together harmoniously and to seek help if any further issues cropped up.
The police, reflecting on the incident, were relieved that the man had dialed 100, allowing them to intervene. The Kowali police station In-charge, Dhananjay Paswan, led a team in a three-hour search operation that culminated in the successful rescue. The man had prepared to end his life, but the timely intervention by the police saved him from the brink of death.
