Jamshedpur, September 8: In the Clean Air Survey 2024, Jamshedpur outperformed Ranchi and Dhanbad, securing the top position in Jharkhand. The survey, part of the National Clean Air Program (NCAP), evaluated cities based on their air quality and corrective measures taken.
Jamshedpur achieved 17th place among cities with a population over one million, improving from its 42nd position in last year’s survey. Ranchi and Dhanbad, however, lagged behind, with Ranchi at 36th and Dhanbad at 38th positions.
The survey was conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to assess efforts to improve air quality. It highlighted the need for enhanced tree plantation campaigns, stricter enforcement of pollution norms, and implementation of local body recommendations to further improve city rankings.
