Security stepped up, over 5,000 security personnel deployed for PM’s Jamshedpur visit

Jamshedpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the allocation of two crore new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) during his visit to Jamshedpur on September 15 announced Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during a press conference on Friday.

Chouhan said, “In Jharkhand, around 20,000 beneficiaries will receive approval letters as part of this initiative by the honourable Prime Minister on Sunday.”

Chouhan emphasized the importance of speeding up housing projects in the state.

The Union Minister said, “Construction of over 1,13,000 homes in Jharkhand is slower than expected, despite Rs187.79 crore already been allocated for the project. State government has completed the necessary formalities for issuing approval letters and disbursing funds but progress on the ground has been delayed.”

However, Chouhan assured that many beneficiaries would still receive their benefits soon.

Chouhan also informed that approximately 1,63,000 villages through paved roads have been connected via the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

The Union Minister also added that 25,000 new villages will be connected, and 62,500 kilometers of roads will be constructed. More than Rs70,000 crore has been issued to for the construction of roads.

Meanwhile, the state police will deploy more than 5000 police personnel across various locations, with a particular focus on Tatanagar Railway Station, Bistupur Main Road, and Gopal Maidan, where the PM is scheduled to attend government and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) events.

According to the police, a multi-tier security blanket will be set up in the areas where the PM will attend events, as well as in neighboring areas.

“It is a multi-tier security arrangement. As per security protocols, a high-alert security plan has been put in place here,” said a senior police officer deployed at the police headquarters.

The Jharkhand police will declare the city a “Temporary Red Zone” for the operation of drones and quadcopters. The senior officer added that all unauthorized drone operations in the Red Zone during Modi’s visit will be penalized as per the relevant provisions of the Drone Rules, 2021.

The officer further stated that more than 5000 police personnel will be deployed for the Prime Minister’s security in the city.

“The state’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and commandos will be deployed at Sonari Airport, Gopal Maidan, Bistupur Main Road, and Tatanagar Railway Station,” the officer added.

According to the officer, the ATS, along with snipers, will be positioned on all high-rise buildings near the venues the Prime Minister will visit. “Two bomb disposal squads and two companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) have also been deployed,” the officer added.

“To ensure there are no security lapses during the Honourable PM’s visit, a total of 2550 male police personnel and 250 policewomen will be deployed. Additionally, 115 inspectors and 650 sub-inspectors will also be stationed in the city,” the officer said.

Another senior police officer mentioned that around 100 police officers have been assigned to maintain proper traffic flow.

According to an official communiqué, senior IAS and IPS officers have been assigned to manage security at key locations and along the routes. IAS Manish Ranjan and IG Manoj Kaushik have been given charge of Sonari Airport, while at Tatanagar Railway Station, the Secretary of the Transport Department, Kripanand Jha, and IG Shailendra Kumar Sinha will be responsible. Labor Secretary Mukesh Kumar and JAP DIG Kanhaiya Mayur Patel will be monitoring security and arrangements at Tatanagar Railway Station’s parking area.

The Revenue Registration and Land Reforms Department’s Chandrashekhar and IG Training A. Vijayalakshmi will handle security arrangements at Tatanagar Railway Station. The Secretary of the School Education Department, Uma Shankar Singh, and STF DIG Indrajit Mahata have been given responsibility for security during the roadshow.
