Jamshedpur: In a significant weather update, the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Ranchi Meteorological Centre has predicted a 2-3 degrees Celsius rise in the minimum temperature across Jharkhand over the next two days. This fluctuation is attributed to the changing wind patterns prevailing over the region.
Currently, the minimum temperatures across several districts reflect this warming trend. Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 15.6 degrees Celsius, while Jamshedpur was slightly cooler at 15.5 degrees. In contrast, Daltonganj experienced a chillier morning with a minimum temperature of 13.8 degrees Celsius.
Among the regions in Jharkhand, Chatra reported the lowest minimum temperature today, settling at 11.8 degrees Celsius. In other parts of the state, Deoghar registered a minimum temperature of 14.3 degrees, whereas Dhanbad recorded 15 degrees. Garhwa, known for its relatively cooler climate, recorded 12.6 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Baharagora in East Singhbhum experienced a notably warmer night with a minimum temperature of 18.4 degrees Celsius, making it the warmest location in the state today.
Meteorologists attribute the current rise in temperature to the presence of a Western Disturbance, which is observed as a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies. According to the IMD, the axis of this disturbance lies at an altitude of 5.8 km above mean sea level, roughly along longitude 70°E, extending north of latitude 35°N. This phenomenon significantly influences weather patterns, leading to fluctuations in temperatures.
In addition to the Western Disturbance, an induced cyclonic circulation over Haryana and its neighbouring regions at an altitude of 1.5 km above mean sea level is also contributing to the changing weather dynamics. This cyclonic circulation is affecting wind patterns, leading to a rise in night temperatures across Jharkhand.
The fluctuating temperatures have caused discomfort among residents, who are witnessing relatively warmer nights compared to the chilly winter evenings experienced earlier this season. Health experts advise people, especially children and the elderly, to take necessary precautions against seasonal illnesses caused by sudden temperature variations.
